Elastic cords are constructed with an elastic inner core made from either synthetic rubber, natural rubber, or a blend of both. The inner core material and type determine the character traits of final products.

Below, we will highlight a small list of three essential considerations to make when shopping.

  1. Cord with high elongation ratings will stretch more than cords with a low elongation rating.
  2. The diameter of the cord determines the overall strength of the rope. The larger the diameter, the stronger the cord will be. Keep in mind that thicker ropes have trouble stretching when compared with thinner ropes. The outer sheath material determines how and where the ropes should be used. Poly webbing has great UV and water resistance factors, which makes the ropes great for outdoor use. Cotton cannot withstand the elements as well as polypropylene.
