Polypropylene cord is considered general purpose because they withstand the elements. In direct sunlight, a nylon cord will deteriorate and break quicker than its polypropylene counterpart. Nylon should be used in marine applications.

Does breaking strength apply to these cords? cords are tested by a percent of their expansion. It is recommended that expansions, during the application, is 50% of the resting length. When stretching cords beyond 50% of the stretch working limit, there is a decreasing of  cord diameter that will negatively affect the limit of the cord’s fitting holding capacity.
