How do I Clean Nylon Webbing

Nylon webbing is constructed from different materials because each material offers different benefits and characteristics. It is important to use materials that are optimized for specific jobs and environments. In a worst-case scenario, webbing could break, creating dangerous situations. The first step in creating safe products and environments is to choose the right webbing material. The three most used webbing materials include cotton, nylon, and polypropylene webbing.Nylon Webbing

Cotton webbing has a soft feel, but it is not as durable as polypropylene and nylon webbing. As a result, it should be used to design and build clothing and accessories. In addition, the material allows for sewing the material to bags, accessories, and clothing.

Nylon webbing is strong and functions best within extreme outdoor environments. You can find this material being used for pet care products, climbing gear, and even parachuting.

Polypropylene webbing is waterproof, UV resistant, and mildew resistant. In addition, the material is known for its stretch resistance, so it is ideal for luggage, boat rigging, and harnesses. It is not as strong as nylon, but it is close.

Regardless of the webbing material you pick, you need to keep the materials clean. Each material type requires a different cleaning method.

When cleaning nylon webbing, you first need to get rid of excess grime and dirt. This should be done with a soft and damp cloth or sponge. Next, mix a tiny amount of a gentle dish detergent with warm water. Next, scrub the nylon in a back-and-forth motion. Make sure to rinse the soapy water from the sponge (as necessary). Next, rinse the nylon webbing with clean water, and then towel dry the material as best as possible. Always air-dry nylon webbing by hanging it. Keep it out of the sun and away from any fumes that will damage or weaken nylon.
